Birth Control

The term birth control is kind of funny, when you think about it… Birth control has been a hot topic during the past years. There has been debate of whether health insurance should cover birth control.

Birth control is used for more than controlling birth/conception. According to WebMD, birth control can lower cancer risk, give clearer skin, give PMS and endometrioses relief. Birth control can help balance women’s hormones as well. For women who are affected by PCOS, they may have trouble getting their monthly visit from Mother Nature and birth control can make that happen.

This is why health insurances should cover birth control. Birth control is used for more than just controlling birth. Further, in the healthcare field, they are all about preventative care and birth control does fall under preventative care.

  1. You're right - they should call it "women's hormonal-controlling" pills/patch/shot. However, I wish there's a way that they wouldn't control too much, because when I had the patch a couple of months ago I experienced more stomachaches, headaches, exhaustion, and moodiness than usual.
