Pro-choice v. pro-life I hope it never goes away

There is always a hot topic in politics but one I hope never goes away is Pro-choice v.Pro-life. I have listened to the Pro-life side of the topic and I understand and even agree with Some of the perspective. I have respect for the passion and commitment to the pro-life belief but my question always comes back to human nature and the fact that we are all different. I always wonder if the supporters or demonstrators have ever been in a situation where they HAD to choose. The answer is yes. Well, at least the women who have been pregnant have been in the situation to choose. The issue is whether or not it is an easy decision or not. For some the decision is not existent and therefore an easy choice, but for some circumstances can dictate the ease or difficulty of choice.
Pro-choice does not equal pro-abortion.  Pro-choice is about the right to choose from the health options women of our country are lucky to have. There are a lot of pro-choice supporters who would not choose abortion because it IS a monumental decision. This is not an easy choice for a woman of ANY means or circumstance to make. Most women chose to have a baby and a small minority, within the ages of 15-45, choose to terminate.
The on-going battle regarding abortion is really just the tip of the iceberg for the Pro-choice supporters.  It is and has been The Big Topic, garnering the attention from both sides and providing media fodder on a slow news day. But the real concern comes with the smaller topics, the ones in the constant flow of legislation occurring in our nations's capital that deal with women's health. From medicinal dosage to hormone therapy treatments, bills and laws have gone to the legislative floor that aim to dictate how women should be treated, medically and socially. None of this legislation will differentiate between the pro-life or pro-choice women and so far I haven't heard of a bill or law that aims to do this type of regulation for men. As a matter of fact one hot topic is to not allow birth control pills to be covered by insurance, however birth control pils are actually hormone pills that also help with endometriosis, fibroids, PMS, PMDD, acne and menopause. The medicines that help with ED are also covered by insurance, they only help ED and they are not considered controversial.
No none would want a health regulation for our children that says they had to take Ritalin if they cannot sit still or have a learning disability. Nor would we want a regulation that says all males should have a vasectomy at age 45 because statistically they would be too old to pay for the college education of a child born to someone after the age of 45. I know these sound ridiculous but so it trying to pass legislation that says dosages for hormone therapy for women should be dictated by their age instead of their body type, weight and results.
While I see some validity in the stance for Pro-life, in the here and now, I can also see that the Pro-choice stance is really a stance for everyone and covers MORE than just abortion. Legislature, whether motivated by by activists groups or financial backers, can have an adverse affect on the femail community but also on our overall society as a whole.
Being Pro-Choice does not mean Anti-Life. It means believing in Pro-Rights to have a voice in your own health and well beinig for men and women. Pro-Life for those children yet to be born and yet to be adopted. Pro-Women to be empowered in YOUR OWN health so you can champion the health of the ones you love. Pro-Men so they know they are not alone in carrying the well eing of their families on their shoulders. Pro-family to know you have the strength inside you to make a difference.

  2. I think that it still should be a choice for you to have, that's what our country is all about freedom. It shouldn't be this big of debate.
